A 12-year-old in Perth, Western Australia, who gave birth to her child, can face justice, along with the baby's father, who is also a minor.
Both may be charged because they are under 16 years of age and do not have the opportunity to give consent to involvement in sexual relations, even though both may have agreed to this.
The girl whose identity has not been disclosed is said to be 11 years old at the time she became pregnant. Police believe that the baby's father is an ager with the girl.
At the hospital, she said she didn't know she was pregnant. It is learned after birth that both mother and child are in good health.
