The Russian president has gone to an official visit to Serbia during today. Putin was welcomed by the Serbian president, as well as welcomed by many Serbian citizens who had gathered. Among them were Serbs from Kosovo.
After a small tour through Belgrade, Putin has presented Moscow's stance regarding Kosovo. A large part of the meeting between the two presidents referred to dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade and the possibility of exchange of territories, which Russia supports,
Serbian officials, however, have said Putin is not bringing the solution, but is interested in knowing what it is, according to Serbs.
Vuciqi, during Putin's visit, has thanked him for his support in maintaining Serbia's integrity.
“I have informed President Putin of everything that is happening with Kosovo, including the unfair tax on Serbian products. I also informed him of the formation of the Kosovo Army in opposition to Resolution 1244. He's supporting us in this. I have told him that Serbia was ready for dialogue and compromise, but we will not accept humility”, Vuciqi has said.
Meanwhile, the Russian president concluded Russia is interested in preserving stability in the Balkans.
As far as Kosovo is concerned, the Russian stance is known. We want you to reach acceptable agreements with Kosovo, based on UN Resolution 1244. Unfortunately, recently, authorities in Kosovo have taken provocative action, which strained the situation in the region. That's what I'm talking about, the formation of the Kosovo Army, which is a violation of the resolution in question that doesn't allow that. Russia shares concern with Serbia over these irresponsible actions because these actions could bring destabilisation”, Putin said during pre-media statements.
