Veterans Chairman: We will support Hashim Thaci to the end

The KLA war veterans' organisation supports the idea that Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac join Kosovo, but it is fundamentally against breaking up Kosovo's territory.

So said the chairman of the KLA War Veterans' Organisation, Hysni Gucati, who in an interview for KosovoPress until commenting on President Hashim Thaci's idea of mending the border with the Serbian state, has declared they disagree that Kosovo territory is given to Serbia.

Similarly, Gucati has said there is much uncertainty as to what correction of the border is meant.

Gucati: We're not giving territory to anyone

“We are for Presevo, Medvedja, Bujanovac, to get these municipalities that have always been in Kosovo. But, we are not about to give territory to anyone, that Kosovo is small even has torn Kosovo apart. So the War Veterans' Organization does not welcome it without day the core of the border and correction. We know what correction is, but we don't know what they're trying to do, that's about 432 meters if I'm not wrong from Presevo to Istog, source. So we care a lot about the correction, which part of the harvest. The president of war veterans says he will support the president of Kosovo, if he manages to get the Presevo Valley, but the same support he does not have if he tries to release a millimeter of Kosovo's territory.

According to him, Kosovo has no land to forgive.

The president has the support of the war organizations if he takes the Presevo, Medvedja, Bujanovac, we will support him to the end. If a millimeter is tried to launch Kosovo's territory, there is no support. If the president with those words he's given so far that I believe so much in his work, if the president says we're about to get Presevo, Medvegen, Bujanovac will always have our support. If it comes to the fragmentation of Kosovo, it will never have our support”, Gucati says.

However, Gucati says sceptical that Serbia would accept that the Presevo Valley was attached to Kosovo, but he does not even believe Serbia will recognise Kosovo.

He says any agreement with Serbia can only be made if there is pressure on Serbia by the international community.

Serbia has always been unfaithful, we have learned historically from both elders and books. Serbia has always been unfaithful, I don't expect anything from Serbia miracles, unless the major powers are understood, of the European Union, of Americans, if they put pressure on Serbia, I believe that perhaps there will be some reconciliation or a peace spoken of. Since that peace I will never believe, that Serbia is an old wolf of the 1990s, 1912, 1913, the massacres it has done to the Albanian people, the evacuation of Albanians earlier that were done. We don't believe any more in Serbia. But perhaps the moment and the end has come to find a common language and come to reconciliation, but I don't believe that Serbia, unless it apologizes for the crimes it has committed in Kosovo, the genocide, the violence, Serbia is still unable to apologize for those crimes it has committed, said Gucati.

Gucati in the interview also talked about veterans' lists, as well as the resignation of prosecutor Elez Blakaj, who has been investigating veterans' lists.

He has clarified the number of veterans, while according to him, the blame for the growth of the lists is on politics and military hierarchy, which he holds as a vote.

I know they've applied over 60 grand, that even here in numbers there's little difference, have applied over 60 grand, there are not 60 thousand veterans. There are 48 thousand veterans so far accepted, 37 thousand and 600 receive salaries, so there are not 60 thousand veterans. Politics and military hierarchy are at fault for the growth of the lists. There's no one else to blame, they're at fault, political leaders are to blame for the swelling of the lists along with the military hierarchy. It's not the veterans' fault, it's not my fault that we weren't part of the commission. While in terms of the resignation of prosecutor Elez Blakaj, who has been dealing with veterans' lists, Gucati has confirmed that he has been given maximum support to investigate the lists.

According to Gucatit, the large number of veterans who illegally gained status does not at all hurt the image of the true warrior.

I never hurt the image of a warrior in life, I damage my image if I'm wrong, if I go to bad jobs. The image of the warrior who is false or who has ever misused in life can never lose my image he. My image loses my son, my family, and I lose if I work badly, but we need them to be very strong, proud that we have the opportunity to fight for this country, give me our limbs. They lose the image of themselves and its authority in opinion, so that the moment they get their names and they investigate who they are, they will lose their family image. They could've been mercrapas, they could've misused the budget that they're misusing, but my work and the work they've never done in life can't afford to lose”, he says.

All in the end, UCK OVL Chairman Hysni Gucati has also talked about Serbia's president Alexander Vuciqi's two-day visit to Kosovo.

According to him, the country's institutions have had to set conditions for apologizing for all crimes committed in Kosovo, and then grant permission to visit.
