Marine troops have announced that the pilot has survived, adding that he has already launched an investigation into the plane crash, as F-35 are involved in the largest and most expensive programme of its kind in the world, the BBC reports.
The plane involved in the accident is believed to have cost about $100 million, although a contract released Friday by the Pentagon says an F-35 costs about $89 million.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump himself praised these planes, saying the enemy “cannot see”.
