Stoltenberg: NATO to Continue Support for Kosovo

The political and security situation in the country and the region, the progress achieved in Kosovo, with particular emphasis on the process of transitioning the Kosovo Security Force to the Armed Forces, as a multiethnic, professional force and according to NATO standards, were some of the topics of this meeting, made known through a media communiqué.
“Role NATO in Kosovo was vital to our people in wartime, whose contribution continues today. Our main strategic goal remains the full application of European Union standards on our way to the EU integration process and efforts to become part of the largest Alliance of peace and security in the world, NATO” has said Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, after meeting with Stoltenberg in New York.
Furthermore, Haradinaj is said to have called for the support of Stoltenberg and the institution he heads for the KSF transition process in the military, the process that would contribute to the most stable security in the Western Balkans region.
Haradinaj has thanked Secretary Stoltenberg for NATO's co-operation and the continued support KFOR is providing in creating a safe and secure environment for all Kosovo citizens.
Kosovo's <x0Institutions and people high value NATO's role”, Haradinaj said, praising that NATO's presence through KFOR in Kosovo is a contribution to strengthening peace and stability in this part of Southeast Europe.
Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, has said NATO will provide support for Kosovo in the future as well.
The meeting with NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg was held under Prime Minister Haradinaj's official visit to New York.
The country's president, Hashim Thaci and Kosovo's ambassador to the US, Vlora Citaku, also attended the meeting.
