Can you take Presevo without giving the North? So Thaci answers

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci in an interview for the Serbian news agency Beta has said the result of the final dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia will be mutual recognition, as will Kosovo's membership in the EU, NATO and the United Nations, as well as Serbia's progress in European integrations, Periscope broadcasts.

Thaci has said that the United States of America gives full support to dialogue between the two countries.

“The US and the European Union have the same position, they have created sufficient conditions and space for reaching a final agreement between the two countries, of course that, led by the European Union leadership with full support of the US and the entire international community, he said, Periscopi.

President Thaci has denied that Kosovo is in any political crisis as far as the Kosovo Assembly has failed last week to make decisions regarding final dialogue.

In Kosovo, as in any other democratic country, there are different political views, there are different opinions on different issues, but there is no political crisis. I am confident that Kosovo will be united in the common interests of the state, and for that, I am working with the entire political spectrum, including the position and opposition”, Thaci has said.

Thaci has added that it is very normal that he and Vucic have different positions as regards normalising reports between the two countries, but has said they are working on reaching the agreement that would result with mutual recognition.

The “for Kosovo is clear that the European perspective is the only path”, he has said.

As long as reaching the agreement is quite difficult, for Thaci, it is more important to reach an acceptable agreement on both sides and which can be implemented by both sides, Periscopi writes.

We have been waiting more than a century to talk about these problems, to solve the conflict. Our citizens have waited long enough. We are not in a favourable situation at this time, but we must work to reach the agreement, which will be acceptable and applicable by both sides”, Thaci said.

Asked about the correction of borders, he has said there will be no partition, nor will the creation of Republika Srpska in Kosovo be allowed.

“I have appeared to be employed for demarcation of the border between the two countries, which includes 430 km, including the co-operation of the Presevo Valley as a territorial whole. This is a respect for our citizens in Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja, expressed on March 1st and 2nd 1992. That's what I'm trying to do and institutionalising as a point in Brussels, Thaci told Beta, writes Periscope.

Asked whether Serbia would accept Kosovo taking the Presevo Valley without claiming Kosovo's north, Thaci has said he cannot speak for Serbia.

“I cannot speak for Serbia, but we are not naive enough to say that Serbia will accept Kosovo because of good intentions, respect for Kosovo or because it wants Kosovo, but because it will be a necessary step for European integration. This will be an agreement based on common interests, painful compromises and not very easily attainable but that will be a necessary process in the path to peace”, Thaci said./Periscopi/
