Besim Hoti, deputy director of the Kosovo Police for the Northern Mitrovica region, dismissed the Serbian officials' claims of taking over the Lake of Weyman and its hydropower station from Kosovo Police, as well as the alleged arrests.
Speaking to Radio Free Europe, Hoti said that only that a “visit” is taking place and that, for now, there is no more information.
Serbia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Nebojsa Stefanovic, said earlier that Serbian police director Vdalmir Rebiq, was instructed that all specific units be placed in a state of maximum readiness due to, as stated, “the attack by Albanians in northern Kosovo<1> and the “arrests of Serbs who have not carried out any work”.
With the case of the Albanians' attack in northern Kosovo and Metohija, and the arrests of Serbs who have not done any work, I have ordered the police director that all special police units be placed in a state of maximum alert”, Stefanovic said.
He added that Serbia's Interior Ministry will continue to monitor developments and that it will take all measures the state commands.
Earlier, Serbian media reported that members of Kosovo Special Unit ROSU took Lake and Weeman's hydropower plant.
