Minister of Justice: False Veterans Will Account

In an interview concerning the latest case of the act, the first justice in the Government of Kosovo has stressed that by justice all fraud veterans will face justice.

What is your position regarding recent developments about the veterans' case?

The first is very important to explain to citizens that independent law enforcement bodies in the Republic of Kosovo are competent enough to manage such complex issues and expose the truth about possible manipulations with the number of KLA war veterans. This, of course, requires full space for the State Prosecutor to do his job with professionalism and no influence. In this direction, no mix or comment at the address of independent prosecutorial work has contributed to the dawning of the truth. Second, I've made it clear even earlier that the complex way of managing this issue should not draw attention for a moment from the final goal of making the number of those who are illegal are on the veterans' list and the dismissal of any fraud veteran's lists, while dismissing them from the burden of our taxpayers, as well as putting the responsibility of those who have mismanaged the list. Every person who is outside the criteria defining the status of the veteran envisioned with the law in force is unjustly a burden to the budget of our taxpayers. Abusers on behalf of the KLA war will not be tolerated and amnified for a moment. On the other hand, true veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army must feel comfortable with the fact that the Republic of Kosovo is implementing institutional care under the laws in force. Those veterans who have been sealed by history will enjoy merit status and full care of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo.

Do you consider that the numerous comments at the prosecutor's address present interventions and threat to their work in whitewashing this case?

We have independent institutions and law enforcement organs, independence and the compatibility of the work which is guaranteed with Constitutions and laws in force. There is no kind of intervention or threat, whether by individuals or any other form that could be an obstacle to the work of law enforcement bodies. The Republic of Kosovo will never compromise blackmail, threat or tendency to flee confrontation with the responsibility of any person who abused in any form.
