At his Thursday funeral, Annani's widow, Nane Maria, led hundreds of people who had gone to the funeral, including world leaders.
She called her husband an extraordinary “”, which had joys in life, broadcasts the Kosovo Clan.
Thousands of people have visited his coffin in his country of origin during the three days of national mourning declared for Anan, which was named “one of the true figures, the modern-day icon” by Ghana President Nana Ado.
World leaders, meanwhile, have thanked the former UN secretary-general by calling to keep the legacy of a stubborn “optimist” alive to create a better and peaceful world.
Annan led the UN from 1997 to 2006, thus becoming the first person from Africa to take office.
He died on August 18th, at the age of 80 in his home in Switzerland, after a brief illness.
