Audrius passed away as a result of gun shooting during the time when he and his colleagues were driving to the customs point in northern Kosovo to start their shift.
Deputy Head of the Bernd Thran Mission, accompanied by a representative of the Zvečani municipality, has gone to where Audrius died tragically to place a wreath of flowers in his memory.
EULEX's entire staff kept a minute of silence in honour and respect for their colleague.
Today we honor our beloved colleague Audrius enavicius, who was brutally murdered in the line of duty. Audrius sacrificed his life in the service of higher values and principles, contributing with his dedication, professionalism and experience to improve the lives of Kosovo citizens”, said Mission Chief EULEX Alexander Papadopoulos.
She called on Kosovo authorities for the task leaders to be brought to justice.
“Audrius ' sublify sacrifice must be remembered forever. Our minds are with his family and friends as well as with Lithuanian authorities, who with grief and pain still expect the perpetrators of the Audrius assassination to be brought to justice. Now when EULEX will hand over the Kosovo judiciary to the case of the assassination of Audrius as part of the interruption of its executive functions in the country's justice system, I call on Kosovo authorities to continue investigating this disgusting crime” Papadopoulos stressed.
