Turkey cannot meet the US “illegal requests” over the current case of arrested cleric Andrew Branson, Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan said.
According to Turkish daily Hurriyet, Erdogan said Turkey would respect rule of law and the US would achieve nothing through threats, Reuters reports.
Branson has been arrested in Turkey under suspicion of illegal activities against the Turkish state.
The US has several times sought its release, but official Ankara has rejected such a demand.
