However, the flight from Ljubljana to Tirana lasts about an hour, and airline ticket prices are acceptable even in the middle of the season.
The streets are not bad. In some less developed areas, roads are normally not as good but are not as bad as thought.
If you travel by car, you should remember that most cities do not have access, so that when you travel through the country, you must cross into cities. This extends travel time.
Gorica
The cost of a good dinner for two people, with one drink, at one of the best restaurants in Berat is 40 euros.
On the left coast of Osum lies a hill, Gorica, while the name of the city of Berat is derived from the old Slav, from the word Beli Grad. On the right is a fortress with a Byzantine fortress and an extraordinary museum at the monastery of Onufri. From the top of the hill is an outstanding view of the city and of the river crossing between the two hills. Each stone in the fort feels a special atmosphere. Such a place is hard to forget.
Gjirokastra
In the Second City of U NESTO, Gjirokastra, about four hours drive south, is a 336m-high fortress carrying a museum with old weapons. A U.S. military plane, which in 1957 because of a technical defect, is proudly exposed to the wall.
The version of this story in the Albanian newspaper is very different -- it was about a spy plane of imperial forces from the West -- that the Albanian army dropped. The pilot was alive and then released. The plane was left as a trophy on the side of the historic fortress.
Low Prices and Friendly People
The account is completely different from Saranda and is just 30 miles [50 km] north of The Dr. The rooms here are not hot, and they go through a spectacular road that rises about 10,000 feet above sea level. Guides say it's among the most dangerous in the country. But the shadow in the top hotels and trees in Llogara National Park, at least during the summer months, rewards 20 minutes of anxiety.
A good point to stay is the Llogara tourist resort, which in its large garden has deer eating at the hands of tourists. From here you may choose to take short or long walks. You're lucky to meet anyone. Albanians don't make money walking the mountain.
Food is good in Albania. Not only because they know how to cook, but also because their food isn't very globalized so for the first time they can be tested only here.
