India's Supreme Court ruled that adultery would no longer be a criminal offense.
The colonial law, 158 years old, has foretold that every man who has sexual relations with a married woman without her husband's permission be found guilty of adultery.
It is not clear how many men have been executed with this law.
It is the second colonial law to be overturned this month by the High Court of India.
Days ago, she abolished the law that criminalized homosexual sex.
Adultery is forbidden with Sheriat or Islamic Law, so it is a criminal offence in Islamic countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Somalia.
