Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the commission, said recent consultations have shown that more than 80 percent of European citizens favour the movement.
“We have done a research, and millions have responded that they believe that in the future, summertime should be for the entire year, and that will happen,” he told German television ZDF, adding that the commission would make a decision Friday.
“will recommend the commission to do what citizens want,” said Juncker. “We will decide on such a thing today, and then it will be the turn of European member states and parliament. ”
Any change will need the approval of national governments and European parliaments to become law.
Opposers of the time shift idea have repeatedly suggested that many people cannot easily adapt to change and have short-term negative consequences on their health, Periscope follows.
