At least 11 hikers lost their lives at the mouth of Ranganella in Civita (Cosenza), in Pollino Park, following torrent floods from heavy rains and heavy storms.
The last two bodies, which are added to the four women and four previously identified men, were found three miles away from the water point. During the night, one of the worst injured died in the hospital. Five were missing and 11 wounded.
Twenty people have been rescued: among those 11 are injured (6 in serious condition) and are in hospitals.
According to the Civil Protection of the Calabria Region, “has difficulty getting a clear picture of who has disappeared because of the fact that hikers were in scattered groups”.
However, research was never interrupted and continued all night<x0. Operations will now be further moved to the river's mouth because there is fear that some victims may have been dragged to sea.
