Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Lord Robertson of Port Ellen and Javier Solana are supporting all this idea.
The current Secretary General, Toomas Hendrik Ilves, says the proposal will be studied carefully, adding that he had great respect for the late senator.
There's nothing better than naming NATO headquarters, the new building, on behalf of the man who's done the most for NATO as much as anyone who can think since the fall of the” Wall, the former president of Estonia said.
McCain made frequent visits to NATO member states throughout his political career and often criticised Russia's activities, which seemed to undermine the alliance.
He also expressed disappointment with the treatment of President Donald Trump of America's relations with NATO.
John McCain died 25 August of this year at 81 years of age after being diagnosed with brain tumors.
