The most frequent age for one to adopt this habit is 16 years old for boys and 15-year-old girls, a drop from 18 and 19, respectively, in 1970.
Scientists have warned that advertising on the prevention of smoking should target younger ages because people who pass 20 years of age are very unlikely to start smoking.
