Rasiqi's Trajkovic Versus Idea for Restructuring Borders

Serbian politicians in Kosovo see the idea of mending the border between Kosovo and Serbia harmful. Especially after Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq's statement on the subject, they say such a thing would destabilise the region. Following Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's continuing statements of reforming the border with Serbia, even Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq has indicated in favour of setting the border, as he has said, with Kosovo Albanians. But, by the Serbs themselves in Kosovo, this is not viewed as something good. Serbian Progressive Party Chairman Nenad Rassic says redefining borders is a bad concept.
We need to know that we are in the Balkans. I don't know and don't remember in any historical period that Balkan countries have managed with peace to change borders. This is the first issue, which would then cause more problems”, Rassic says.
Rashiqi says that in addition, neither the European Union would accept the division of borders on ethnic grounds.
Even the former Kosovo Assembly delegation, Rada Trajkovovic, says that overhauling the borders will lead to the destabilisation of the region. In an interview for the Serbian public television programme, Trajkovic estimates that the presidents of Kosovo and Serbia have already reached a border correction agreement that has not yet been revealed.
“We have come to a position where they for normalisation are offering us the most cruel project. This border-changing project implies the new deportation and deportation of people, as well as specific detubism for us Serbs, that the enclaves would be emptied, but also most of Kosovo's north”, Trajkoviq says.
In several presentations last days, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has mentioned the possibility of co-ordinating the border with Serbia, respectively, uniting the Presevo Valley with Kosovo, but without violating the country's north. While Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, the day before, has said it is in favour of setting the border with Albanians, saying that a territory that is not known who treats him and who he belongs to is always a source of possible conflicts.
