The Kosovo government, along with Thaci in the position of the president, continue to seriously degrade the foreign service of the Republic of Kosovo, and do so by violating the country's laws and Constitution. Not only have they exceeded the quota of political appointees (from as much as 50% specified in the Law, to over 80% of the appointed political chiefs of diplomatic missions), but have continued to damage the reputation of foreign service by exploiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for employing and advancing party militants of the ruling parties and potential witnesses of the Special Court, as well as by using the means for lobour, not for Kosovo's advancement, but for cleaning up the image of specific politicians.
The LDK, along this mandate, has refused to become part of such legal violations and has committed that through the quorum procedure on the Foreign Affairs Commission, it will prevent such appointments as well as through the parliamentary investigative Commission to investigate the spending on lobbi.
It does not mean that, with these actions, Kosovo is accepting more recognitions than recognitions and more failures than successes in membership at multilateral forums. The image of Kosovo's foreign service has never been worse before international eyes, and the damage being done to Kosovo's interests through the extreme politicisation of this service will unfortunately be long-term.
