The Social Democrat Party's request (PSD) for the extraordinary session, to debate dialogue with Serbia, has been rejected by Kosovo Parliament Speaker Kadri Veseli, with the argument that the Assembly is on break.
The Only Hope for The PSD now remains to gather 40 deputies' signatures. To do that, The PSD must count on the assistance of other opposition parties.
Social Democrat Party Parliamentary Group chief Dardan Sejdiu told Radio Free Europe that they have already submitted a request to the Democratic League of Kosovo and Vetevendosje Movement to sign the initiative.
According to him, all opposition parties must be together to stop President Hashim Thaci.
“We have proposed that the team be mandated by two-thirds of the Parliament's vote. Two-thirds of the Parliament cannot be done without opposition votes. So we've given way to stop Mr. Thaci. And by not giving in, only by criticising and finding no political excuses, then in fact it is being served to continue this mess by this government and by this president”, Sejdiu said.
Chief Prime Minister Kadri Wessel told Radio Free Europe that there is no emergency to interrupt summer holidays.
The default deputies are at work every time when they need their presence. We're actually on spring break. We don't have an extraordinary reason to put us in an emergency”, says Wessel.
Vetevendosje Movement MP Albulen Haxhiu said this party would not support the former party for this extraordinary session. According to her, The PSD must have a more serious approach.
Why we consider that resolution PSD It's a ticket to Thaci in Brussels, it's precisely because the same does not rule out this person at any point. Therefore, we oppose the resolution in question, so we cannot give the signatures for such a Resolution”, Haxhiu said.
But political affairs analyst from the Kosovo Democratic Institute, Artan Murati, tells Radio Free Europe that it has been urgent to go to a break with MPs without giving a solution to the question of dialogue with Serbia.
Murati says this situation shows again No co-ordination Between parliamentary groups.
I consider that the Parliament is necessary to issue a resolution and, above all, debate and to have a position of its own in terms of the dialogue process, and that should be done as soon as possible. If necessary during August. Although with the Parliament's work regulations envisioned for August to be a vacation, it is not forbidden for the Assembly to function this month. So I don't see anything wrong with this” session, Murati says.
Due By Lack of quorum In the country, the resolution on dialogue with Serbia, proposed by the Social Democrat Party, had not received an epilogue.
Meanwhile, the opposition continues not to be unique in its positions on this resolution, but the common denominator was the requirement for the Parliament to mandate a representative team in talks with Serbia, denying President Hashim Thaci's leading role in the process.
This one, He invited everyone around. But he has given no signal that he is willing to launch his lead role in the dialogue.
