German Foreign Trade Association Chairman (BGA) said a escalation of the trade conflict between the US and China would be fatal for Germany.
“For German exports will have fatal consequences, which can neither be estimated in the euro”, BGA President Holger Bingmann said today for the newspaper “Rheinsche Post”, the ATSH writes.
If this conflict were to increase, it would not only be dangerous for the opposing sides, China and the US, but for the whole world”, Bingmann stressed.
The BGA president called for negotiations and a debate on the future of world trade. Earlier this week, US President Donald Trump asked his trade representative, Robert Lighthizer, to consider a customs tax increase of $200 billion Chinese ports from 10% to 25%.
