In his letter, Minister Tahiri has expressed institutional and social concern for the full stagnation of the fate of missing persons from war in Kosovo.
“As the minister of justice, I have decided as priorities to address this issue during my mandate and I am fully ready to offer the necessary institutional support for each case of the missing, regardless of ethnic affiliation, to find quick solutions. For this, we are also working closely with the European Law Rule Mission that is helping our legal medicine capacities.
However, the real address on this issue is universally known. The Republic of Serbia must open its archives and provide information for each case so that the identification and tracking of locations where the remains of the victims of the last war can be done as soon as possible, and that this heavy chapter of our history can be closed”, writes Minister Tahiri.
He has stressed that this issue requires solutions beyond politics, since it affects humanity and the collective conscience of peoples towards each other, so he has demanded that this topic be raised at any meeting EU ministers have with representatives of the Republic of Serbia.
“With the highest consideration and inviting you to a reflection on the basis of humanity and the soundest principles on which European civilization has been established, I request that you have this topic on the agenda of talks with representatives and diplomats of the Republic of Serbia under any circumstances and in any case given to you. Only by dawning the fate of the dead will our families and our society be rehabilitated in general. I believe in the values of European civilization and believe in your mandate, as institutionalists selected to serve these”, the minister Tahiri writes in his letter.
