“Minister of State Michael Roth, as well as Ambassador Heldt in various interviews, have made clear the official position regarding dialogue for normalisation of relations. With this, the position of Germany's Federal Government is known,” said in a statement of this embassy for Radio Free Europe.
Roth and Heldt have earlier told Kosovo media that partitioning the latter and border movements are very dangerous and could destabilise the entire Balkan region
The Great Britain Embassy has also declared itself against the call for changing borders in the Balkans.
“We believe calls for modification of national borders could be destabilising,” said the British Embassy in a response to Radio Free Europe.
“As we have always been clear, normalising relations between Kosovo and Serbia is crucial to the security, stability and prosperity of both countries and the region as a whole”.
The British government believes this should be based on recognition of independent countries within current borders. We continue to support the facilitated dialogue by the European Union in order to find a comprehensive and sustainable solution with which the two countries benefit. ”
UN: Kosovo, Serbia avoid negative rhetoric
Meanwhile, Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has declared he is open to the possibility of correcting the borders with Serbia, but not for partitioning Kosovo. He has said that, in political dialogue in Brussels, he will also speak about the possibility of joining Kosovo, Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanovac.
Speaking of the possibility of changing borders, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has said he agrees to have redefination of borders with Albanians.
I engage and this is my policy, for definition of borders with Albanians, in order to have the territory that you don't know who treats it and who it belongs to. This territory is always a source of possible conflicts”, Vuciq has expressed itself.
