John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, just published an exciting letter about his father's death.
But, except as a note, the senator's daughter's letter is a memory and dedication to her hero father.
Her letter says:
My father, United States Senator John Sidney McCain III, was separated from life today.
I was with my dad during his end, just like he was with me in my beginning. In the 33 years he raised me, taught me, corrected me, comforted me, strengthened me, and supported me in all things. He loved me, and I loved him. He taught me how to live. His love and care were always present and unbroken, they make me from a girl to a woman and he showed me what being a man is.
For all this I am very grateful. Now that he's gone, my job in life is to live by his example, his expectations, and his love.
My father's death came with pain and sorrow for me and my mother, my brothers and sisters. He was a good fire burning light, and lived in his light and goodness for a long time. We know his fire lives in each of us. The days and years to come will not be the same without you father, but they will be good days, filled with life and love, because of the example he lived for us.
Your prayers for his soul and our family are truly appreciated.
My dad's gone and I'm missing him just like a girl can miss me. But in this loss, in this grief, I find comfort in this: John McCain, the hero of the republic and this little girl, woke up today to something more glorious than anything that lives on earth. Today the warrior entered into his true and eternal life, greeting him who went before him, ascending to meet the author of all things:
