Turkey's President Recep Tayip Erdogan in a speech given in the eastern Turkish province of Muş stated that from Jerusalem to the Western Balkans all states belong to Turkey.
If we look behind Malazhurt means Mecca, Jerusalem as we look forward to the Stock Exchange, Edirne, Istanbul, Rumeline and the entire Balkans”.
At the ceremony marking the anniversary of the Battle of Malazhurt, congratulating 947th anniversary of the Victory of Malaschart Erdioğan said: “I once again wish this blessed victory for all our people and all Turks on the four sides of our geography. I express my gratitude to Sultan Alparslan and all the brave men in his army who left this beautiful place as our homeland, as well as to all the veterans and martyrs who went this way through the centuries”.
He said that the victory achieved in Malazhert has paved the way, which leads to the central parts of Europe.
For that reason, if we look behind Malazhurt means Mecca, the Kuds as we look forward to meaning the Bursa, Edirne, Istanbul, Rumeline and the entire Balkans. If we forget the spirit of Malachi, we will have no past or future. We in Malazir did not win just one win. We in Malazirt at the same time have told the whole world what nation we are”, Erdogan said.
Manzikert's battle, or in today's town of Malazir in eastern Turkey, took place in 1071, when Turkish Selchucs, under the leadership of Sultan Alp Arslant, defeated Byzantine Emperor Romanus IV. The consequences of the loss were the weakening of Byzantium's protection, but also of Turkish population immigration in the historic province of Anadol.
