Earthquakes can strike all of a sudden and unannounced, and the important thing is that you will likely take precautions in the first quake.
Following are some basic information on how to handle an earthquake.
Stay Under the Doors
This is known, yet it must be applied. During an earthquake, if you are in a closed area, stay below doors and possibly near a concrete column. The roof beams also protect you from potential collapse.
Get under the table.
During the quake, it is dangerous to stay close to moving objects, as you may fall onto them so that you can even walk under the table.
Don't run down the stairs or the elevator.
In fact, the stairs are the weakest part of a building, but because of fear, people try to get out of their apartment immediately. Even the elevator should not be used after being blocked.
Get away from building objects
If during the time of the quake you are outside, do not stay close to the building facilities or the electricity lines, as they may fall and be caught down.
Stay away from lakes, beaches, and bridges
During the earthquake and minutes after the quake, leave the shores of lakes or beaches, as there may be an increase in wave intensity in what is commonly called tsunami. If you're on a vehicle, avoid being on unstable bridges or roads.
