Macedonian authorities say they are offering nato allies conditions for training of land and air forces.
Macedonian Defence Minister Radmila Sugarinska said Macedonia's membership in Natto presents an opportunity for a safe and peaceful region for citizens. She said Macedonia has suffered greatly from conflicts and that membership in Nato would end these problems.
We are concerned that the entire Balkans be a stable region, and primarily engage in security for our country and our citizens”, Sugarinska said, addressing questions about possible challenges in the region in the time the debate is under way for change or correction of the borders between Kosovo and Serbia, broadcasts zeiamerica.
The Macedonian minister expects Macedonia's citizens to give strong support to NATO and EU membership in the upcoming referendum in late September.
Even US Deputy Ambassador to Macedonia Micaela Schweitzer-Bluhm stresses that sustainability and security produce prosperity and that the mechanism of NATO is more than good at ensuring stability.
Goodness guarantees development. I appreciate that Macedonia will be a future member of NATO, and that is why it has the support of the United States of America”Mrs. Schweitzer-Bluhm said.
“Partnerity between Macedonia and Natos will be even stronger when Macedonia becomes a member of Natos. United States wants to see Macedonia meet the conditions for membership in the Alliance and we encourage Macedonia's citizens to become part of this process”, She stressed.
According to authorities in Skopje, the local economy has benefited $4-5m only from the expenses and presence of increased military forces of NATO countries.
