Although Albania has been confirmed in recent years as a tourist destination on the rise of European tourism peaks, attracting millions of foreign visitors, trends which are expected to continue at the same pace for the next decade, this is not noticed in the accommodation structures, as a key aspect in hosting tourists, writes Koha Ditore.
According to INSTAT data, the number of beds in Albania is over 42 thousand, too small compared to tourism ambitions. Compared to other European countries, this figure seems even smaller. At the top of the list, with the largest capacity on the old continent, is France with over 5.1 million beds, followed by Italy at 4.9 million.
Albania's southern neighbour, Greece, ranks sixth with 1.2 million beds, while Croatia and eight with nearly 1 million beds.
