Alarming: 80% of this summer's fires in Albania were deliberate

In 80% of cases, there are fires deliberately imposed by persons aiming either to harm citizens' wealth or even to open up cattle pasture. So far 73 cases of domestic fire have been recorded and 1 prosecuted in the” nation.

Civil Emergency Director Haki Chako says in an interview for Tv Klan that this year's numbers of fires were conspicuously less than a year ago when there were about 300 fires, but still no major cases were missing.

Hakki Chako: The most disturbing fires was that of the forest of Seman where trees and pines burned 7 acres [7 ha] and the fire shown near the city of Lusnje.

This year's balance speaks so far of about 30 acres [30 ha] burned in the woods.

“The total burned surface is about 30 ha in proportion to 362 cases or massive 14,000 acres burned in 2017.

Emergency head says more than 1400 effective in any case of fire emergency equipped with firefighters, vehicles and rescue boats.
