Pristina municipality Chairman Shpend Ahmeti said today that failure to review the government's budget is expected to cause problems in Pristina's municipality projects.
He has given a reason why power has not made the budget revision, which, according to him, is the lack of votes in the Kosovo Assembly.
Ahmeti, who is also president of the Social Democrat Party, said the government is afraid to make the revision because it does not have 60 votes, and according to him if it does not pass then it would question the legitimacy of the Government.
I don't know the political reason why they haven't gone into revision, but I don't think it's just the municipalities, but it's also running into central-level organisations. Now we have to be more creative in what we do, for example we've put funds from one project into another project, which I'm sure this year when the audience does not only our audit, but all municipalities will find a lot of money movement that could easily be done with a budget review. I think the main reason why it hasn't gone has to do with the numbers in the Assembly, because it's a government that doesn't have 60 number of deputies safe. I guess they didn't send him because they were a little scared he didn't pass. Of a Government challenging itself with the vote in the Assembly and losing its vote, then there is always the question of the legitimacy of that government, that has been the main reason and that causes us problems, but not inex1>, he said.
The head of Pristina made these comments during a conference featuring infrastructure projects from 2018.
