In a post on the social network Facebook, Hoxha wrote that Sholtes announced it for the next steps, for the LiBE Committee meeting on August 29th, where visa liberalisation for Kosovo will be on the agenda, and we are together optimistic to get the green light to move on.
Below is Hoxha's post:
In telephone conversation with European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo Mr. Igor Sholtes, I discussed future steps for the visa liberalisation process. The whole process is already in the hands of EU institutions, following Kosovo's meeting the criteria.
I informed Mr. Sholtes that Kosovo is continuing reforms and implementation of the SAA, and asked that the decision-making process in terms of visa liberalisation be accelerated.
Kosovo citizens understand that they are on the verge of visa liberalisation and are looking forward to free movement, and I also announced the Reporter for Kosovo's awareness of the visa liberalisation campaign, which the European Integration Ministry has launched, with particular emphasis on informing citizens of what visa liberalisation means as well as sanctions that could follow in the event of abuse.
I offered the full support and co-operation of the country's institutions so that the decision-making process will be as quick as possible and citizens' expectations for free movement by the end of the year are met.
Rapporteur Sholtes thanked me for our commitment, throughout the process, and assured me that we have full support to accelerate decision-making for visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens.
Sholtes also informed me of the next steps, of the meeting of the LIBE Committee on August 29th, where visa liberalisation for Kosovo will be on the agenda, and we together are optimistic to get the green light to move on.
