The European Commission will propose in September the addition of 10,000 Frontex troops to better preserve the EU's external borders. The head of the Jean-Claude Juncker Commission declared this at a joint press conference with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz in Vienna. According to Juncker, member states have agreed to a better preservation of the EU's external borders and there will also focus Austrian Presidency efforts.
We remember that Frontex policemen have been deployed at the Albanian border crossing points. Moreover, the Austrian presidency will pay particular attention to stability in EU foreign countries through the European <x0-second approach to the Western Balkans.
In addition to strengthening borders, the European Parliament approved on Thursday the project to establish the so-called Authorisation and Information System for European Travel. By 2021, Albanians and citizens of visa-free states in the Schengen area will have to obtain a authorization to travel to European Union countries. Online application will cost 7 euros and will be presented to border authorities in Schengen space.
