Thaci: The departure of Serbs from KSF is organised, we are talking about returning

His statements follow the removal of several Serb members of the Kosovo Security Force as a result of Belgrade's pressures.

In a conversation with Radio Free Europe, President Thaci said Kosovo insists in peace and good neighbourly reports.

“It's time to give up and not to be seen through barrel”, Thaci said.

He has suggested that the Kosovo Security Force is on track to transform into the next Kosovo Army.

Kosovo's “Armed Forces will be multiethnic armies, with NATO standards, inclusively, in the service of peace and stability. It will be an army with a view to safe NATO membership. It will be a protective army and, of course, with the goal of participating in peaceful international missions. A number of Serb KSF members from the Gjilan region last week has submitted a request for evacuation from this force, due to, as it has been said, threats and pressures from Belgrade.

Recently, they have faced unpleasant situations, Molotov cocktail attacks on their property, bans during the border crossing in Serbia, as well as threats by some officials in Belgrade for their sentence of up to 10 years in prison, due to their participation in “the foreign armed reforms” (FSK).

President Thaci has said the Kosovo Security Forces are holding consultations, internal talks with Serbian KSF members about these developments, suggesting that no one will be able to stop transforming this force into the Kosovo Army.

The “is seen as an organized goal. For now I can't say that there is clear political motive, but authorities and officials, senior KSF superiors are listening to everyone's opinions, except with the greatest consensus for them to continue working, to play their own role for their country. After all, Kosovo is home to all its citizens. But one thing I can say, no one in Kosovo or outside Kosovo can curb Kosovo's right as an independent and sovereign country to have its own army. This job is currently committed”, President Thaci said.

On the other hand, Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, has stated Sunday that his position is that Kosovo Serbs should not participate in the Kosovo Armed Forces.

“If viewed as pressure if we say we don't want the Serb to shoot the Serb, because for what else would this army serve”, Vuciq said, adding that this army (of Kosovo) would not attack Albania, Albanians in Macedonia or those in Montenegro.

Noting that a Kosovo army can only be seen against Serbs and Serbia, Vuciq has declared that it cannot be viewed as the pressure of Belgrade's opposition to Serbs being part of the KSF.

“A will allow them and we will keep silent and look at the sky until they kill our people”, Vuciq said, repeating that actions, according to him “criminal against the Serbian people, will not be repeated in”.

Meanwhile, Thaci has said that Kosovo does not speak through arms, but engages in peace, reconciliation and good reports with neighbours.

I don't want to comment on statements that speak of bloodshed, war or branding of each other. The time is for extending the hand of reconciliation and not looking through the” barrel, Thaci said.

He has reiterated that he expects an agreement with Serbia in the Brussels dialogue, which would help both countries. Under any circumstances, Thaci said, Kosovo's future is not related to that of Serbia.

It's very important that until we get to this point we should deal correctly with each other, peacefully, we made progress and understanding progress towards each other as two states, but also as two peoples”, Thaci stressed.

According to him, it is vital that both states not surprise each other.

Any claim to veto the establishment of the Kosovo Armed Forces will be failed”, President Thaci stressed.

He has made it clear that Kosovo will establish the Armed Forces in partnership and co-ordination with NATO, the United States of America and other international partners.
