The student organisation for Quality Growth in Education has organised a pre-rectorate action by the University of Pristina for academic advances at Pristina University, raising doubts about the ten candidates proposed for independence from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

ORCA says it is monitoring the actual process of academic advancements, where some of the candidates in this process who will be voted for promotion on Monday have left them surprised because 10 candidates proposed for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering have published 5 to 19 articles each in scientific journals within a year and a half.

“The method of publishing for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering candidate for a year is down by 5.5, while according to a study published in the international magazine, it turns out that in Norway, there are 0.96 scientific publications per year for professor. Only two conclusions can be drawn from this situation, or the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has exceeded five times the Norwegian academic performance in scientific publication or FIM scientific publication, and are not in magazine of acceptable international quality”, the ORCA communiqué says.

According to this organization, although the publications of these candidates meet minimum quantitative criteria according to the regulations in force, magazines in which they are published leave space for doubt.

The majority of these publications are made in only three magazines. For these three magazines O The RCA has found that: they misinform their index, they mention indexing on long-defunct databases, they don't show their address, they're misinforming for the use of antiplagiarism software, while it's easy to find the rigs from Wikipedia in their publications. Moreover, one of these magazines has the publisher listed as suspicious and with serious violations of Transparency Parations and the Practices of Mira for Scientific Editor. We call on the Senate to make sure that despite the formal fulfillment of the criteria, the quality is protected by implementing internationally accepted standards”, the communiqué says.
