Subventional Government Aims to Solve Crisis in Post

The Ministry of Economic Development (MZHE) is aiming to find a <x2-solution “for the financial crisis in Kosovo's public company through the subsidy of universal services, amounting to about 1m euros annually, Koha Ditore writes today. This ministry has said it has asked the Electronic and Post Communications Regulatory Authority (ARKEP) to make an assessment of the cost of services, and then to be discussed in the Government for Subvention.
Although the Government is obliged to cover the losses of this service with the Law for Postal Services, it has not done so, with all of its agreements since 2014. The case has also been raised in the Constitutional Court, where with an act of decision this court is required by the MZHE to compensate for the financial losses Post has suffered during the delivery of this service.
The cause of this service's failure and the delay in rent from Telekom to an estimated 4.1 million a year has made the financial situation difficult and the delay in the execution of wages for workers who on Monday have launched a strike, which after a consultation with Economic Development Minister Valdrin Luka was interrupted.
