Serbs divided, disagree over Kosovo issue

Before a final Pristina-Belgrade agreement, Vuciq has sometimes indicated that a referendum on Kosovo will be organised.

According to analysts and political themes connoisseurs in Serbia, Vuciq is trying to protect himself from an eventual people's decision with their votes in the referendum.

According to him, the Serbian opposition is taking the wrong stance on Kosovo, as it is opposing solutions it estimates may be positive for the Serbian state.

“I believe the opposition is good to think before calling for a boycott, as there is little chance that this referendum will fail”, the Serbian scholar said.

And Vladimir Peiq, director of an agency that days ago conducted several polls on Serb attitudes towards Kosovo, praised that the referendum could even fail.

“The theme of resolving Kosovo's problems is very large, and this could depend directly on the referendum result. And on that question we will be able to answer according to the participation in referendum”, Pejac said.

According to Serbian analysts, boycotting the referendum by the Serbian opposition could negatively affect Serbia's position.

Paige says it depends too much on how questions would be formulated in the referendum.

If there is a direct question like whether you are for Kosovo independence. Then that would be a trick. Although it is difficult to have that kind of questions”, Vladimir Peic said.

Like Thaci in Kosovo, Vuciqi in Serbia has called on the political spectrum to join before the final phase of dialogue.

The opposition in Kosovo is praising that President Thaci is not the ideal person to lead the dialogue, while in Serbia they are accusing Vuciqi of handing over Kosovo. /Warn.net/
