Scientists from Edith Cowan University have said that the new test can help doctors discover skin cancer before spreading into the human body.
“The patients who discover the first stages of the disease have a five-year survival rate between 90 and 99 per cent”, the research leader Pauline Zaenker said.
She has added that survival rates drop to less than 50 per cent if the cancer is distributed into the body.
This is what makes this blood test so wonderful because it can notice the turmores in the first stages when they are still treatable”, she said.
There are 105 skin cancer patients and 104 healthy individuals involved in research.
Tests have resulted in the discovery of tumors in the first stages in 79 percent of the cases, scientists have said.
According to the World Health Organization, one in three cancer cases is diagnosed with skin cancer until Australia has the largest number of people affected by this type of disease.
