The rise in temperatures is related to increased suicide rates, according to a new study. Researchers have warned that the impact of climate change may be as important as economic recessions, known as suicide increasers, reports The Guardian, Periscope.
The link between mental health and global warming has not been widely investigated, but recent reports that have analysed temperatures and suicide in the United States and Mexico in recent decades have made disturbing findings. They say the suicide rate rose by 0.7% in America and by 2.1% in Mexico when the average monthly temperature rose by 1 degree Celsius.
The analysis took into account many things, including seasonal variations, poverty levels, and even reports of known figures that could lead to other deaths. Scientists found that the hottest periods resulted in more suicides than in weather periods. /Periscopi
