PSD: Thaci has no legitimacy to lead dialogue, to include Parliament

The Social Democrat Party has once again voiced opposition to Kosovo President Hashim Thaci leading the process of dialogue with Serbia in Brussels, saying that such a thing should be done by the Parliament of Kosovo, as according to this party, it is the only organ that has legitimacy for such a thing.

Subheader The PSD, Visar Ymer, has said at a media conference that it is necessary for the Kosovo Parliament to take the lead in this dialogue process.

This means that the assembly should be involved from the start to the end. Legality is gained only if the assembly is involved in this process throughout the entire dialogue. The strategy, the platform must be approved in the Kosovo Assembly. We as a party consider that this platform should serve as a basic principle and guide in this process. Anyone who thinks we should go to the dialogue without a bad line is wrong. Kosovo has some issues that it does not discuss with Serbia, as it is state”, Ymer said.

While, Dukagjin Gorani, said there must be a monitoring mechanism for the dialogue process.

Kosovo's “Assembly must be named the host by the qualified vote. The PSD does not think there is a host of this process. The mandated must give responsibility to the assembly for everything achieved in the dialogue. The Assembly should have the opportunity to sack the mandated if there are violations. The Assembly should form a special group that will oversee this process and this group should be led by the opposition”, he said.

He said the country's president is not legitimate to lead with dialogue.

There is no doubt that Thaci aspires to be the leader of the dialogue, but The PSD thinks it has no legitimacy, as the Kosovo Assembly is the only body that has legitimacy for such a”, Gorani said.
