According to the announcement, cases of sexual harassment are increasing daily.

The latest case of attempted rape of a woman on Marashi's road to Prizren is extremely disturbing, especially considering institutional silence to the case. The case of attempted rape of a woman in Prizren, as well as numerous sexual harassment, is increasingly driving women away from public spaces. So by scaring and isolating them. Based on a report about women's safety in public space in Prizren, it turns out that 70% of women don't feel safe in public spaces, while 76% of them have been harassed during the exploitation of these spaces. Public space is dominated by men, whom they have already begun to pose danger to women. While, it has become a long time since Prizren's women and girls have raised their concerns about certain neighborhoods, which have no lighting at all or are partially enlightened, limiting the possibility of moving safely in the evening hours. In Prizren municipality, young women and girls don't feel sure that they are alone, or even in the company of other women to take the mountain or tourist route to Kale. The same fear is true of many other neighborhoods. So, even among our main demands are the integration of increased public lighting with monitoring cameras as well as the presence of “social police “so that these spaces are in police surveillance. Thus, increased security in these public spaces will create an opportunity for preventing violence and sexual harassment and creating a safe environment for women”, the report says.

According to FEMak, the right to public space cannot be denied because it is a human right guaranteed to all citizens. Moreover, cases of sexual harassment and attempted rape are unacceptable and immediate measures must be taken.

“We, as a group of Prizren municipality girls and women, have decided to protest with citizens. This Sunday at 1: 00 p.m. on Maras road we will protest symbolically, with the request that responsible institutions take immediate measures to prevent these phenomena. While we are determined to continue protesting until our demands are realized and there is security for all”, the announcement says.
