German Chancellor Angela Merkel said today she welcomes any dialogue between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We must get used to the fact that meetings between the president of the United States and the president of Russia will become normal”, Merkel said during a news conference.
Merkel said she hopes Putin and Trump will talk about nuclear disarming, stressing that the US and Russia have about 90 percent of the world's nuclear weapons.
President Trump has invited his Russian counterpart, Putin, to visit Washington. This announcement comes after the summit the two presidents held in Helsinki on 16 July.
