Hungary: We have no deal with Germany for asylum seekers

A Hungarian Government spokesman has rejected reports that the country has reached an agreement with German Chancellor Angela Merkel for accepting asylum seekers.

Media have reported that Merkel has managed to get the support of 14 European Union member states, including Hungary, for asylum seekers to be placed in special centres within EU states, where they will wait for the procedures to review their requirements.

“We have not reached such an agreement”, Hungarian Government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs has said, broadcast Reuters.

“It is impossible for migrants to enter Hungary without first entering another EU country”, he said, adding that “in 2015, Germany attempted to become the first country where migrants entered, but we refused such a”.

According to a document provided by news agencies and published today, Chancellor Merkel has reached agreement with 14 EU states, it is said that prospectors who have arrived in Germany, after pre-practicing in other EU states, should be deployed at special centres within the EU, where asylum requirements will be processed.
