Albania's consumer continues to be deceived every day by businessmen who sell cheese. Many times we've heard that cow, goat, or sheep cheese is prepared for departure. But how true is this?
To learn that, we need to do a very simple experiment. We've got different cheeses in some of the capital's stores, at different prices as well.
All we have to do is throw betadia on the cheese, or iodine, and if the cheese starts to black, then it's ready to go, but if the cheese gets honey, then it's quality.
As a rule, the producer and trader of cheese must declare the origin and elements of the food product. But such a thing is not respected. So the consumer never knows what's on the table.
The problem is that all the producers, all the vendors, should put on this cheese label, is starting out, or there's so much starting of it. Then anyone can buy it or not, it's their right. Everyone knows that problem. You know AQU, the Ministry of Agriculture knows, the government and local government. The bad news is that none of these interferes, to solve this problem permanently, as is done in the Western world”, says Christaq Brckoll, professor at UBT.
Cheese producers, replacing milk with endowment, cut costs and increase profits. But who is the institution to deal with such deceivers? Of course it's the National Food Authority. It's easy for cheaters to find, on the street, on the market, on the bank.
