Two senior Kosovo and Serbian officials today are in Washington at the invitation of US Secretary of State Mike Pompeii to receive an invitation to the Ministerial Conference for Religious Freedoms. But the visit occurs at a key moment when the Serb side is trying to present the scenario for partitioning Kosovo as a solution.
Daciq has gone to the US along with Serbia's Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, where Serbia's Day in America has been set aside at the US Congress. There he met US Assistant Secretary of State Wes Mitchell. Dacic has said that at the meeting he has had a good time, until he is awaiting the next meeting with John Bolton, Trump's adviser with no positive mood for Kosovo's independence.
According to Dacic, the new “administration (of Trump), will hear Serbian proposals and creative solutions rather than based on what has already become a cliche something that the former administration has done”.
Reformed analyst for the situation in the Balkans Daniel Serwer commenting on the presence of Serbia's prime minister, and Dacic in the US has said they will try to sell the idea of partitioning Kosovo during its stay.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli arrived in Washington last night. Before his departure to the US, he had given an interview where he had declared that no one who led the dialogue in Kosovo dares talk about territories.
About being in Washington Pacolli has reported via Facebook.
“I just arrived in Washington, DC, at the invitation of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to attend the First Ministerial Conference for Religious Freedoms. This is an important initiative by President Trump to promote religious freedoms and Kosovo will support American efforts at the global level.
I will share Kosovo's tradition and the legacy of interreligious harmony and co-existence and promote our efforts to make all people feel equal and free in our society for their faith.
I will use my presence in Washington to meet with other counterparts and American decision-makers” wrote it.
