According to new statistics published by the State Department, fewer than 4,500 Albanians were declared lottery winners for this year, with a significant increase from the 2400 selected in 2017.
The total number of Albanians who have applied has been 246,129 in 2016, 315,842 in 2017, and 367,230 in 2018.
The State Department releases applications statistics once every three years, and Albania results one of the countries with more aspirations for US migration if the population's size is taken into account.
The entire Balkans have recognised mass migration over the past few decades, but Albania seems to hold the record in terms of both the number of those leaving and the number of those who dream of still leaving. /Mapo/
