A lake of liquid water has been found from the radar below the surface of Mars, according to a new study by Italian researchers from the Italian Space Agency, published Wednesday in the scientific newspaper Periscopi broadcasts.
The evidence has been collected by Mars' Advanced Radar for the lower surfaces, known as MARIS, in the European Space Agency.
Between May 2012 and December 2015, MARSHIS did the surveillance of the Mars South Ice cap Planum Australe region. He sent pulses of radar across the surface and polar ice cover and measured how radio waves were reflected on Mars Express.
Radar thus indicated that there is water in it.
We interpreted such a thing as a stable body of liquid water on Mars,” wrote the authors in the study.
Even earlier, there have been other signals that there may have been water in March, but this study concludes such a question - vital to our outlooks.
