The clash between the woman and the person who abused her occurred in a Spartanburg courtroom, where 32-year-old Kala Brown faced a serial killer convicted Todd Kohlhop for the first time since his arrest in 2016.
Brown was chained inside the container of ships hidden from dense forests on the Swiss farm of Kohlhop in 95 hectares of South Carolina for 65 days.
It was found chained inside the shipping container on November 3, 2016. Police used cutters to release him.
Her boyfriend, Charlie Carver, was shot dead by Kohlhop. His body was found buried in the property.
Kohlhop was later convicted and sentenced to seven successive periods of life.
Brown filed a civil indictment for $333 million. After she testified to her grief, the convicted assassin was given the chance to pass his victim's investigation.
Outside the court, Brown thanked the officers for coming to rescue her.
I mean, basically, thank you for all the prayers and all the work you've been looking for me for. If it wasn't for everyone there, I don't think I'd be here today”, she said.
