He has written that 19 years ago Kosovo entered a new historical era of liberation and freedom, thanks to whole-city resistance, the Kosovo Liberation Army war, support of the United States of America, EU states and NATO intervention.
According to Thaci, Kosovo is forever grateful for the contribution of democratic world states that in the most difficult days offered diplomatic, military, humanitarian and material support.
His full post:
“After a 78-day bombing campaign on Serbian military and police targets, as well as on reaching the Kumanovo Agreement, the forces of NATO's northeast alliance entered Kosovo.
19 years ago, Kosovo entered a new historical era of liberation and freedom, thanks to the entire city's resistance, the Kosovo Liberation Army war, the support of the United States of America, EU states and NATO intervention.
The removal of Serbia's military forces, the entry of NATO troops, the return of the displaced population during the war marked the first steps of reconstruction of Kosovo that for two years experienced major material disasters, crimes, massacres, genocides and ethnic cleansing.
After a transition period Kosovo established democratic institutions and on February 17th 2008 declared independence, achieving the second historic goal after the liberation.
Kosovo is forever grateful for the contribution of democratic world states that in the most difficult days offered us diplomatic, military, humanitarian and material support, but also for continued support so far.
Kosovo today aims at membership and integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions, including membership in all UN organisations, such as all states and free nations”, has written Thaci on Facebook.
