PSD seeks investigation of 53m euros given to Bechtel-Enkas

According to the PSD, for years Kosovo's budget has been wrongly oriented, spending large sums on road construction and highways, but not on increasing production and raising quality of citizens.

For years, the budget of the Republic of Kosovo has been wrongly oriented, in construction of transit highways, instead of growing production and increasing the welfare of citizens. As if that were not enough, the governments of Kosovo, one after another, through pressing and wrong decisions, are making even more of the financial burden of Kosovo citizens”, the PSD's response says.

In the PSD's response, the problem with Bechtel Enka company is said to be inherited from the government of Isa Mustafa.

“The secret contracts and the irresponsibilities of institutional leaders, both in front of citizens and in front of such contracts themselves, constitute binomial through which Bechtel Enka is operating within Kosovo. The last case of the Pristina highway -- Skopje -- is the next testimony to the governance that has occurred in Kosovo for many years. Retirements in payments by the government Mustafa were forwarded by new annexes -- harmful to the Haradinaj government -- the contract that charges the Republic of Kosovo for 53m euros additional to Bechtel company Enka. This sentence becomes even more suspicious in view of the lack of transparency in the contract. Moreover, the company that does the overstress has rejected Bechtel's claims” is written in the party's response, which is led by Shpend Ahmeti.

The Social Democrat Party requires the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo as soon as they investigate the entire process of building this highway, from the initial contract to the final annex, so that all responsible for mismanagement of public funds can be brought to justice.
