The League of Prizren Living Work for All Times

The Albanian League of Prizren remains today in the great efforts of all Albanians to expand their space of freedom, democracy and European integration and Euro-Atlantic integration.

So said at the solemn academy on the occasion of Prizren's 140th anniversary of the Albanian League, where the League is said to be not a historical relic, but also today is a living work for all of us and for all of us.

Albania's President Ilir Meta said that since its establishment the Prizren League had its own domestic and international challenges. According to her, on the domestic level, it was difficult to bring together the political union of four documents, the establishment of the army and the enterprise of political and military action to realise its plan, while in the international plan, having ignored the demands of Albanians from the major states of time.

“due to the extremely difficult circumstances created by the militant aggression of neighbouring states, as well as by the military coalition of time powers for implementation of the Berlin Congress decision, Prizren's Albanian League does not live long, but despite this political platform, international diplomatic action, the outstanding values of the Albanian national identity it exalts, resistance and sacrifice it took to stay alive forever and feed the Albanian nation's aspirations for freedom and independence forever.... Prizren's Albanian connection remains today in the great efforts of all Albanians to expand their spaces of freedom, democracy and European integration, and Euro-Atlantic. As such it is not a historical relic but it is even today a living work for all of us and for all of the times“, he said.

While Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi said the union would be reached in the Gulf of United Europe.

Now we are blessed with the best time for our countries, for our people, for generations to come, we are aware of which direction we want to go, what to achieve, and how to achieve this. We're neighbors who've had difficult, uncomfortable times but out of the way we're leaving behind critical times and moving forward. We work hard in the direction of good neighbourlyity, in terms of meeting the conditions for membership in NATO and the European Union, and this is the goal of the entire region“, he said.

Family representative Jashar, Rifat Jashari said Albanians from generation to generation worked and fought for freedom

Albania after generation has thought, worked and fought for this day that we have today, thanks to the Kosovo Liberation Army as well. Glory and honor to all those who fell earlier, and later, I was nothing bad anymore, we don't see at our place“, he said.
